Homer – Meaning and Examples

In baseball, a “homer” is a slang term for a home run. A home run occurs when a batter hits the ball out of the playing field, allowing them to circle the bases and score a run.

Examples:

  • In the bottom of the ninth inning, with two outs and the game tied, the batter hit a homer over the center-field fence, securing a walk-off victory for the home team.
  • The team’s star player delivered a series of homers during the championship series, leading his team to victory and securing his place in baseball history.
